Safe and reliable

You can easily get in touch with each other on NLvoorelkaar.   To ensure that this platform is (and remains) safe, we take visible and invisible measures.

You can also do a lot yourself. Read more about both topics below.

meeting each other: six tips

Meeting someone new can be quite daunting, both online and in person. That's why we've compiled some tips to help you get started.

1. (video) call introduction

Meeting up with people you meet online can be nerve-wracking for many people. To make this as safe as possible, we recommend calling each other first.

2. getting acquainted in public space

Would you rather not meet at your home right away? Then arrange to meet in a public place like a library, community center, or local café. Let friends or family know you've made an appointment, or bring someone along.

3. Check the identity

When contacting someone, ask for a valid ID or a LinkedIn profile to verify that they are who they say they are. An honest person will have no problem with this. You can also request a Certificate of Good Conduct. Read more about the Certificate of Good Conduct on the Ministry of Security and Justice website.

4. Check the References

If you've found a match through this platform, we'll ask you how it went. You can send a thank you or recommendation, and use stars to indicate how the match went. You can find this information on the platform's participants' profiles. This way, you'll know that this person has helped others or asked for help before, and whether it went well.

5. keep us informed

Do you feel someone has bad intentions? Contact us , we're happy to help.

6. Safe internet use

A general tip that applies to all your internet use: keep it safe. Here are a few practical tips:

  • Make sure your computer and internet browser are up to date. This way, you can use the website smoothly, quickly, and securely.
  • Are you using a computer in a public space? Don't forget to log out after using the website.
  • Change your password regularly.

Better prevention
then heal

This is how we keep it safe & reliable

1. Verification of new users

When a user registers on NLvoorelkaar, we check the information entered in their profile. If there are any incomplete or questionable details, we will contact the user and (possibly) temporarily close their profile. If a user is affiliated with an organization or association, you will see this reflected in their profile. Self-employed professionals must display a valid Chamber of Commerce number in their profile.

2. Daily monitoring and moderation

NLvoorelkaar is part of NLvoorelkaar. NLvoorelkaar checks all posted requests for help, offers of help, and messages daily. We will intervene in any activities that do not comply with our terms and conditions or code of conduct. The individuals involved will always be notified.

3. Local collaborations

NLvoorelkaar works closely with healthcare, welfare, and volunteer organizations in the region. So, if you need additional assistance, please contact us and we'll be happy to discuss who can help you.

4. Easily accessible helpdesk

Questions, comments, or feedback about NLvoorelkaar are always welcome. You can reach us here . NLvoorelkaar is also easily accessible: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. By email or by phone at 088-8000603 (free of charge, you only pay your usual call charges). Please also contact our helpdesk if you have an unpleasant experience with another participant on this platform. This way, we work together to create a safe and friendly platform.

5. We protect your privacy

As a participant of NLvoorelkaar, your privacy is protected by us:

  • Only your first name and the digits of your postal code (at the neighborhood level, not the street level) are visible to other users. The postal code is needed to determine which city or neighborhood you're requesting or offering help in and to make matches.
  • You choose whether you want to be visible with your request for help or offer of help, or whether you prefer to respond to someone else. We know from experience that posting a request for help more often leads to a response.
  • Messages between users are encrypted via the website. Your email address is not shared unless you choose to be.

Read all details about privacy in the privacy statement.

6. Weekly user check

We also check all registered users weekly. This includes checking age and incomplete accounts. If you have any questions, we will contact you and a profile may be (temporarily) deactivated until the necessary information is obtained.

7. Immediate action for violations of the terms and conditions or code of conduct

NLvoorelkaar and/or NLvoorelkaar takes immediate action when a user violates the Terms of Service or Code of Conduct . If we believe there is a significant risk of unsafe or unpleasant situations, we remove all content and accounts. We also work with organizations and our local partners as needed.

8. Users write testimonials about each other for a reliable website

When two users match, we always ask for a thank you or recommendation. These testimonials can be found in the user's profile. Have you found a great or unique match yourself? Be sure to leave a testimonial. It's nice for the other person to receive and useful for other users!

9. Liability & insurance

Accidents can easily happen. Fortunately, in most cases, you're covered by your own (liability) insurance. Always contact your insurance company beforehand to report the accident and let them know you're volunteering for someone else. This way, you'll be covered free of charge in these situations.

When you volunteer at an organization, you are usually insured for the risks and liabilities associated with performing your duties. This insurance is provided nationally by the Association of Netherlands Municipalities. Always inquire during an introductory meeting about the organization's policies.
