Safe and trustworthy

You can easily get in touch with each other on NLvoorelkaar. To ensure that this platform is (and remains) safe, we take visible and invisible measures. You can also do a lot yourself. Below you can read more about both topics.

What you can do: 6 tips

1. (video) call introduction

Meeting up with people you meet on the internet is exciting for many people. To make this as safe as possible, we recommend that you call each other in advance.

2. getting to know each other in public space

Would you rather not meet at your home right away? Then make an appointment in a public place such as a library, community center or a café nearby. Let friends or family know that you have made an appointment or bring someone with you.

3. Check the identity

When contacting us, ask for legal identification or a LinkedIn profile to check whether your contact is who he says he is. An honest person will have no problem with this. You can also ask for a Certificate of Good Conduct. Read more about the VOG on the website of the Ministry of Security and Justice .

4. Check the References

If you have found a match through this platform, we will ask you how the match was. You can send a thank you or recommendation and indicate with stars how the match went. You can find this on the profile of a participant of this platform. This way you know that this person has helped people or asked for help before and whether this went well.

5. keep us informed

Do you feel that a certain person has wrong intentions? Contact us , we will be happy to help you.

6. Safe internet use

A general tip that applies to all your internet use: keep it safe. A few practical tips:

  • Make sure your computer and internet browser are up to date. This way you can use the website properly, quickly and safely.
  • Do you use a computer in a public space? Don't forget to log out after using the website.
  • Change your password regularly.

Better prevention
then heal

This is how we keep it safe & reliable

1. Verification of new users

When a user logs in to NLvoorelkaar we check the information entered in the profile. In the event of incompleteness or doubt, the user will be contacted and the profile (possibly) temporarily closed. When a user is affiliated with an organization or association, you will see this in his/her profile. Self-employed persons must display a valid Chamber of Commerce number in the profile.

2. Daily monitoring and moderation

NLvoorelkaar is part of NLvoorelkaar. NLvoorelkaar checks all posted requests for help, offers of help and all messages every day. We intervene in activities that do not comply with our general terms and conditions or rules of conduct. The persons concerned are always informed about this.

3. Local collaborations

NLvoorelkaar works closely with healthcare, welfare and volunteer organizations in the region. So do you need extra help? Please contact us and we will be happy to discuss who can help you with this.

4. Easily accessible help desk

Questions, comments or feedback about NLvoorelkaar are always welcome. You can reach us here . NLvoorelkaar is also easily accessible: Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. By e-mail or by telephone at 088-8000603 (free, you only pay your usual calling costs). Also contact our helpdesk if you have an unpleasant experience with another participant of this platform. In this way we work together on a safe and friendly platform.

5. We protect your privacy

As a member of NLvoorelkaar your privacy is protected by us:
- Only your first name and the digits of your zip code (i.e. at district level, not at street level) are visible to other users. The zip code is needed to know in which city or neighborhood you are requesting or offering help and to achieve matches.
- You choose whether you want to be visible with your request or offer of help, or whether you prefer to respond to someone else. We know from experience that posting a request for help more often leads to a response.
- Messages between users are encrypted via the website. An e-mail address is therefore not released, only if you want it to be.

Read all details about privacy in the privacy statement.

6. Weekly check on users

We also check all logged in users every week. This takes into account age and incomplete accounts. If you have any questions, you will be contacted and a profile can be (temporarily) placed on inactive until the required data has been obtained.

7. Immediate action in case of violation of the conditions or rules of conduct

NLvoorelkaar and/or NLvoorelkaar takes immediate action when a user violates the general terms and conditions or rules of conduct . When we believe there is a material risk of unsafe or unpleasant situations, we will remove all content and accounts. If necessary, we also work together with organizations and our local partners.

8. Users write references about each other for a reliable website

When there is a match between two users, we always ask you to write a thank you or recommendation. These references can be read in the users' profiles. Have you found a nice or special match yourself? So always leave a reference. Nice for others to receive and useful for other users!

9. Liability & insurance

Accidents can easily happen. Fortunately, in most cases you are insured through your own (liability) insurance. Always contact your insurance company in advance to report it and indicate that you are doing volunteer work for someone else. This way you are insured free of charge in these types of situations.

When you work as a volunteer at an organization, you are in most cases insured for the risks and liabilities associated with carrying out the tasks. This insurance is regulated nationally by the Association of Dutch Municipalities. Always ask during an introductory meeting how this is arranged at the organization in question.
