COSA is a meaningful volunteer task. You support a sex offender in his re-socialization in society. This way you contribute to a safer society! As a volunteer at COSA, you, together with other volunteers, form a social network around a sex offender with the aim of breaking through isolation and working towards social inclusion. Volunteers support the person in finding their way in society. This can be done by offering a listening ear, offering practical help and undertaking activities. Drink a cup of coffee somewhere, take a walk and also provide support in developing your own network/hobbies and other activities. In addition, the volunteers are an extra pair of eyes and ears to help the sex offender stay on the right path. A COSA process takes an average of 1.5-2 years and requires a time investment of 2 hours per week. Social isolation When a sex offender returns to society after serving a sentence, unrest often arises. Social isolation, social exclusion and emotional loneliness lurk. COSA is committed, together with volunteers and professionals, to breaking this isolation. They support the sex offender in his reintegration into society. This has proven to be effective in reducing the risk of recidivism. Also become a COSA volunteer COSA is a beautiful, meaningful volunteer task. Volunteers can count on a thorough two-day training in advance. The support and guidance provided by the circle coordinator during the COSA process is also well organised. No specific prior education or background is necessary. We are looking for volunteers in Flevoland (Almere, Lelystad, Zeewolde, Dronten), North Holland (Hilversum, Huizen), Utrecht (city, IJsselstein, Nieuwegein, Houten, Amersfoort, Rhenen, Veenendaal, Zeist). Do you like a challenge and enjoy working with other volunteers? Then let yourself be taken into the world of COSA! WHAT IS COSA? COSA's goal is: no new victims (of sexual violence). This approach is offered by the Netherlands Probation Service to sex offenders who do not want to commit new crimes. This is often difficult for them because they are often excluded by society. Loneliness and social isolation are common among sex offenders and this actually increases the chance of new risks. COSA wants to prevent or break this social isolation. If you can separate the person and the criminal behavior, you can do something about it. COSA supports someone in reintegrating into society and it can be both fun and serious. Together with fellow volunteers and a number of professionals, we follow the reintegration process, encourage good choices and intervene (professionals) early where necessary. The volunteers and the sex offender (called a core member) form the inner circle. The professionals involved (including Probation Supervisor, practitioner, counselor and community police officer) form the outer circle. VOLUNTEERS: As a volunteer you do not need to have a specific background. After registration, we always start with an introductory meeting without obligation. Before you can be deployed, you take part in a mandatory two-day training. This training takes you into the world of moral issues and into working as a volunteer at COSA. You do not learn any skills, but discover whether the work suits you by providing information and practicing with situations you may encounter. After the training, we decide together whether we want and can work together. We do need a Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG). WHAT ARE YOU DOING? As a volunteer you do not have to conduct assistance conversations. You take yourself with you and come into contact with the sex offender from person to person. You provide support with difficulties that someone encounters, often these are on a social level. You engage in conversations, undertake social activities and have fun together, but you also have an eye for risks and hold people accountable. You always work together with a few other volunteers. All this under the good supervision of a professional circle coordinator from the Dutch Probation Service who is responsible for the circle process. WHAT DO YOU GET? We take good care of our volunteers. In addition to reimbursement for kilometers traveled and/or minor expenses for, for example, a cup of coffee or a drink during social activities, we also offer the following: - individual coaching for volunteers (mandatory) - intervision (we expect you to be open to this) - theme evenings or lunches on work-related topics - a nice New Year's drink - reimbursement of other activities in consultation with the circle coordinator We care about our volunteers, also in addition to the work they do for us. We are also available for volunteers in the evenings and on weekends. You are cordially invited to register. We work throughout the Northern Netherlands, but you decide in which area and on which days/parts of the day/times you want to be deployed. If you have any questions regarding this vacancy, you can always contact us.

Shahed (17) would like to complete HAVO. Will you help her with Dutch? Thanks to the help of another homeschooling buddy, Shahed was able to complete her VMBO with good grades. Now she is in 4 Havo and can use some extra support again. She is looking for an online TOMaatje who wants to help her successfully complete high school. Do you want to help someone realize her potential? We are looking for a volunteer for Shahed who: - Want to teach online once a week. - Has a good command of the Dutch language. - Is not afraid of the upper secondary school material to ensure that you can make good agreements. In consultation, you agree on a time during the week when you can provide online support. After that, it's time to have fun contact with each other and, above all, do a lot of homework together. How do we support you? You will receive guidance from TOMaatjes at the start, with tips for lesson content and access to the community with other TOMaatjes in it. Every 1-2 months there is an online intervision with lectures from professionals or you can discuss in groups how you can get more out of the tutoring. What do I need for it? - Be open to another culture. - Before you can start, we will request a Certificate of Good Conduct for you free of charge. Once it has arrived, you can start as soon as possible. - Want to help with everything that is covered in the upper years of HAVO. Being a homeschooling buddy is truly a very rewarding task. It starts with tutoring, but many of our volunteers really build a bond with the family where they work. Shahed's previous TOMaatje wrote this about her: "Until last summer holidays, I (as TOMaatje) guided a Syrian girl for 3 years, during which she transitioned from framework to theoretical, with the end result being a T-diploma with an average above 7. A wonderful result that gives me great satisfaction. left, and she can still fall back on me. My reward was her facial expression and that of her parents when I unexpectedly appeared at the graduation ceremony." We hope to welcome you soon if TOMaatje for Shahed or one of the many other children could use help.

Looking for adventure? Then read on! In 2025, the Europa Kinderhulp Foundation and the Municipality of Hannover will once again organize a summer camp in Otterndorf (in the north of Germany). Six Dutch children (11 - 13 years old) will enjoy 14 days on a large camp site together with 32 German children. We will participate in a sports, games and activities program. We are looking for a second supervisor, who will run this camp together with 1 Dutch supervisor and a number of German supervisors. Are you at least 19 years old and adventurous? Are you confident and do you speak a little German? And do you have no other plans from July 12 to 26, 2025? This is a volunteer position. An interview is part of the procedure. A VOG is mandatory and is requested via Europa Kinderhulp. The departure and arrival location is probably in the Arnhem / Zutphen / Apeldoorn region. If you are interested, we would love to hear from you! If you have any questions or would like more information first, you can of course also respond.
