We are looking for a volunteer for a client who likes to swim and feels like a fish in water in the pool. Who are we Our client has daytime activities at the Buitengroep Boerderij, among other things. Unfortunately, as an Outdoor Group we cannot swim and are therefore looking for a swimming volunteer for our client. And benefits from a positive approach. He likes it when someone is with him. Your job as a swimming volunteer Our client would really like to swim on Tuesday afternoon. You pick up the client at the day care center and walk with him to the harbor where the bus leaves at 1:10 p.m. Several clients travel with this bus and expert guidance from exercise therapy also accompanies them to and in the swimming pool. Sometimes he prefers to swim in an area where he can stand. But he also jumps off the diving board with the greatest of ease. Then it is nice if there is someone in the water. He prefers to swim underwater. If there is a slide in the pool, he only goes on it when it is calm. Your profile You can provide structure and clarity. You are a calm person and remain calm and positive in stressful situations. You are available on Tuesday afternoon. Volunteers at Open Embassy support newcomer families in finding their way in the Dutch education system. Make an impact with this valuable volunteer work and help online or physically with primary or secondary school subjects for 1 to 2 hours per week. What are you going to do: As a TOMaatje you help a child/young person (7-18 years) from a newcomer family when education is not going well. You offer support in an accessible way with doing homework, practicing the Dutch language and other difficult school subjects. Involving parents in their children's school work also ensures that you take on the role of mentor and buddy. You agree when it suits you, the child/young person and the parents best. This is done in consultation. The guidance takes place online, physically at your or your family's home, or at a public location such as a library. What do you get from us: - An online training program to help you get started. - Access to an online community for sharing tips and knowledge. - Information meetings about intercultural communication or professional knowledge. - Multiple intervisions per year. What we ask of you: - You master the Dutch language. - You are familiar with the Dutch education system. - You get along well with children. - You are open-minded and curious about other cultures. - You have to agree on the time and space: at least 1 hour per week for a longer period. Working as TOMaatje: Through your efforts you ensure that children and young people improve their Dutch language and can ask questions about their homework. This is very important for their school career. You can also support the parents and familiarize them with the Dutch school system. Working as TOMaatje is therefore meaningful work with a major social impact. At the same time, you get to know a newcomer family better and become part of a community of about 300 other enthusiastic TOMaatjes. Join! Are you willing and available to guide a child?
