We meet every last Saturday afternoon of the month in the café of the COC in Eindhoven, also known as Pand54. A meeting place in an environment where everyone can be themselves! Anders Roze helps people with intellectual disabilities to get to know other people with the same feelings. We chat about anything and everything, have a drink and often do a fun activity. Sometimes there is an outing and with Sinterklaas and New Year's Eve we make it an extra cozy party. COC Eindhoven has a number of working groups where volunteers are active, for example, these groups organize activities aimed at people within the LGBTI+ umbrella. The working groups are led by a coordinator; who organize activities together with the volunteers. As a coordinator, you take the lead within a working group and ensure that the group can do what it stands for. Het Roze Gebaar is a group that focuses specifically on deaf and hard of hearing LGBTI+ people. Every 2 months this group has a meeting on the third Saturday of the odd months in building 54. Centrum EigenWeijzer is currently a Center in development for living with and after cancer. Within our Center, visitors will find their way to peers, informative support, various activities or theme meetings, a listening ear. We are currently working very hard on all procedures, making many plans, looking for sponsors, approaching relationships and everything that can contribute to the design of our center. For that reason, we are urgently looking for volunteers who want to help in the Activities committee. This means thinking along with a fun and enthusiastic team about what we are going to organize for our guests, helping with the preparations and organization and helping or being present during the activity and helping to clean up and evaluate afterwards.
Stichting De Kempen Specials are young people with normal abilities and a form of autism who chill together and do outdoor activities. We call them the TEENS (Ages 13-20). We always have room for enthusiastic people or students who do social studies to devise and supervise these activities. This is certainly interesting if you are interested in a future in social care. The Stable Friends Foundation offers horse riding and daytime activities for people with disabilities. Since 2023 we have had our own accommodation on the Volmolenweg in Veldhoven. Archaeological research is regularly required during new construction and excavation work, because there are many historical remains in the soil in our municipality. The AIC (Autism Information Center) De Kempen, is looking for hostesses and hosts for the information center in Eersel. There is room for contact with fellow sufferers and there is a media library with, among other things, books and films. The information center is located in D'n Achterum at the Verdereweg 9 in Eersel. Every 1st Friday of the month, between 9.30 and 11.30 am there is a walk-in morning. There is no walk-in morning during school holidays and in the months of July and August. In addition, we have a monthly theme evening and various (6-weekly) support groups. Our website also offers a lot of information about all kinds of topics related to autism.
