Perhaps one of the most beautiful experiences you can add to your life. Being a volunteer at the Black-backed Meeuw is very meaningful and very satisfying. The volunteers are the ones who provide care to the terminal patient and support their caregivers. In principle, your role does not differ from that of the informal caregivers. You are additional to that care, insofar as the informal caregiver is no longer able to fully provide end-of-life care. Informal caregivers and volunteers have different legal responsibilities and powers. For example, the volunteer may not perform medical or nursing procedures that some informal caregivers have learned to do. That is why you also work closely with the district nurse. Time, attention and support are key words in the volunteer's work. Do you think you can do something for people in the final phase of their lives? You are very welcome as a volunteer at De Mantelmeeuw. The De Mantelmeeuw Foundation can regularly use volunteers who - after intensive training - can support people and their families in the last period of their lives at people's homes or in the hospice on Meeuwenlaan. Home also refers to other forms of living. And in the hospice you and your fellow volunteers run a whole house, as it were, with everything that comes with it. Volunteers (m/f) do not need to have any special prior training. During the introduction, we will carefully check whether you and our organization are a good fit for each other. The volunteer is also expected to participate in an introductory course. What do we have to offer the volunteer? The De Mantelmeeuw Woerden Foundation offers every volunteer internal basic training that is in line with working as a volunteer in palliative terminal care and in which the above aspects are highlighted. After this you start working, first with a mentor and then independently. You work with a large team of committed fellow volunteers and this also brings great contacts. Please inquire when the next course starts and feel free to come and get acquainted. Maybe you can do something for us in the meantime! In addition to the basic training, further training will be offered regularly as required and in consultation. The organization also offers various volunteer meetings to evaluate the care provided and theme evenings. Once a year, a fun volunteer outing is also organized and at the beginning of the year there is a New Year's meeting where you feel like you are part of a great organization.
