I am an informal care coordinator at Aafje Smeetsland (with a focus on family, informal caregivers and volunteers). I have a lot of contact with family, informal caregivers and volunteers, offering them support and guidance, which is essential to tailor the right activities and daytime activities to the wishes and needs of our clients. I would like to tell our current and new volunteers that they make a difference in our healthcare organization, that they are looked forward to and counted on. I would like to give them the satisfaction they receive when they provide support with an activity, are a buddy, help with garden maintenance or just want to have a chat with that client who needs it so much. Affinity with our target groups, dementia, psychiatry and rehabilitation care is important, but I also offer guidance and support in this regard. Offering a listening ear, being patient, keeping agreements made and being able to interact with the target groups or being willing to learn is what we ask of volunteers. In return, the volunteers receive a lot of appreciation, understanding and satisfaction.

Here at the Smeetsland nursing home there are many activities that take place in a different room than in the living rooms. And to move the residents to this space, volunteers are needed who also help during this activity by sharing coffee and tea and by supporting the resident with e.g. singing, playing shuffleboard, crafting, etc.
On Sunday morning there is a church service for the residents of Smeetsland that we can use help with because the participants have to be picked up from the department. During and after the service, help is also needed to distribute the coffee and bring the participants back to the ward. There are already several volunteers who are committed to this, but because of the large number of participants, more volunteers are needed. You don't have to be a practicing Roman Catholic or Protestant, but you do have to respect other people's beliefs. If you have some time left for this beautiful task, please register.

For anyone who wants to do something for parents and families affected by the childcare allowance affair. For years, parents have been wrongly accused by the Tax Authorities as fraudsters, with unprecedented emotional, relational and financial consequences. Unfortunately, there are tens of thousands of families who suffer from the consequences of the allowance affair and they are still waiting for recovery. As a volunteer for the (Equal) Worthy Recovery Foundation, you can provide direct support and make a difference for a family. Since October 2023, the (Equal) Worthy Recovery Foundation has been offering a people-oriented recovery approach developed by parents and independent (personal injury) experts. We work from our own direction, trust, neutrality and collectivity. Our goal is to resolve the allowance affair together more quickly and to offer parents the opportunity for emotional and financial recovery. To be able to do this for the many affected parents, we need you! Where you can make a difference for a parent by participating as a Listening Writer. This is what you do as a Listening Writer The recovery route focuses on the parent's own story, the Factual Account. In order to put this on paper, the parents (the Storytellers) are supported by a Listening Writer: a volunteer from society who listens without judgement and writes down the Parent's Factual Account. For the parent, the Factual Account consists of 3 parts: who were you before all the misery started, where are you now and where do you want to go? When the Factual Account is on paper, the parent can choose to have it calculated. In this way, as a volunteer, you make an important contribution to the parent's emotional and financial recovery. This is who you are as a Listening Writer Perhaps you have been following the news for years, the benefits affair affects you, you feel the urgency, and you want to do something concrete. By helping out, you are in fact saying to the people involved: I see and believe you. It is precisely this equality that motivates you to use your time and skills. As a person, you connect easily, equally and respectfully. You are open and curious about the person involved. You can listen deeply, unbiased and without (pre)judgments. You dare to ask questions and know how to create a safe environment. In addition, you are a fellow resident of the Netherlands. Come teach language in South Rotterdam! From our organization we are looking for reinforcement for teaching language lessons. We believe it is important that everyone can participate in society. This requires that you can speak, write and read the language. People learn the Dutch language together with people from all kinds of cultures. What are you going to do? As a teacher you teach and help people. In class we discuss vocabulary and grammar and talk about culture and current affairs in the Netherlands. The language lessons are free.
