Telephone Listening and coaching, 4 hours/week
Do you live in (the vicinity of) Rotterdam, Barendrecht or Hoeksche Waard? And do you have an open attitude and respect for everyone?
Then you may also be a good listener and enjoy helping others with advice, coaching and tips. Then you can support residents of Rotterdam and the surrounding area in dealing with residential nuisance and ensure better contact between neighbors!
We are looking for volunteers who want to work with us as an advisor after proper training and guidance of course. And we like to do part of the training at our office in Rotterdam Centrum because then we can best explain and support.
We are there for everyone in Rotterdam, Barendrecht and the Hoeksche Waard who experiences residential nuisance and cannot solve it themselves. They can call the free and independent Advice Line Residential Nuisance.
As an advisor, you start by listening carefully to someone's story. That may be enough for the caller. A longer conversation is often necessary: Then you discuss with the caller what options there are in their situation to do more actively and positively themselves. If necessary, you can help with a specific tip or advice. This could be a referral to, for example, neighbourhood mediation or another agency.
We store conversations in our system to a very limited extent in order to better assist callers when they call back.
Of course, you will first receive training from us and when you start. In the training, you will learn more about listening well, asking the right questions, which advice helps in this case and the value of someone who listens and gives recognition, even in an unchangeable situation. You will also receive guidance from our more experienced staff.
The work for the advice line is during the week between 12:30 and 17:30. You can be active one afternoon a week, but also several. If you cannot work in the afternoon but can at other times, we are also happy with your help. Because in the morning we are sometimes already busy with calling back questions that have come in via email.
After an induction period at our office on the Noordereiland in Rotterdam, it is also possible to work from home.
