Will you help Shahed (17) complete his HAVO?

OpenEmbassy

Shahed (17) would like to complete HAVO. Will you help her with Dutch? Thanks to the help of another homeschooling buddy, Shahed was able to complete her VMBO with good grades. Now she is in 4 Havo and can use some extra support again. She is looking for an online TOMaatje who wants to help her successfully complete high school. Do you want to help someone realize her potential? We are looking for a volunteer for Shahed who: - Want to teach online once a week. - Has a good command of the Dutch language. - Is not afraid of the upper secondary school material to ensure that you can make good agreements. In consultation, you agree on a time during the week when you can provide online support. After that, it's time to have fun contact with each other and, above all, do a lot of homework together. How do we support you? You will receive guidance from TOMaatjes at the start, with tips for lesson content and access to the community with other TOMaatjes in it. Every 1-2 months there is an online intervision with lectures from professionals or you can discuss in groups how you can get more out of the tutoring. What do I need for it? - Be open to another culture. - Before you can start, we will request a Certificate of Good Conduct for you free of charge. Once it has arrived, you can start as soon as possible. - Want to help with everything that is covered in the upper years of HAVO. Being a homeschooling buddy is truly a very rewarding task. It starts with tutoring, but many of our volunteers really build a bond with the family where they work. Shahed's previous TOMaatje wrote this about her: "Until last summer holidays, I (as TOMaatje) guided a Syrian girl for 3 years, during which she transitioned from framework to theoretical, with the end result being a T-diploma with an average above 7. A wonderful result that gives me great satisfaction. left, and she can still fall back on me. My reward was her facial expression and that of her parents when I unexpectedly appeared at the graduation ceremony." We hope to welcome you soon if TOMaatje for Shahed or one of the many other children could use help.

Youth coach: voluntary, not without obligation

Stichting Z11-Jongerencoaching

The Z11 Youth Coaching Foundation guides and supports young people from the Alkmaar - Dijk en Waard region through individual coaching. We do this with the help of trained volunteer coaches. The program is free of charge for the young people we guide. We are continuously looking for enthusiastic, motivated coaches who have the necessary 'people skills' and an affinity with the target group. Experience is a plus, but not a requirement. All Z11 coaches receive training from us before they start work, further training on various relevant topics during their career at Z11, and permanent support from the project management. Coaching young people is wonderful work and it is always very satisfying to help these young people. We experience this ourselves and we also hear from all our fellow coaches: “you get so much in return!” However, this work does require commitment and dedication because the young people we guide must be able to fully rely on their coach. Although this beautiful work is voluntary, it is certainly not without obligation. It is important that you can really listen and that you can also put yourself in the shoes of the young people you will guide. Understanding and empathy are crucial in order to provide advice and assistance to a young person in achieving his or her goals. At Z11 Youth Coaching, the young person is central. We coach young people who register themselves and/or are open to coaching. We also work at the request of parents, supervisors or referrers, but not on their behalf. This approach means that our young people can count on mutual trust and our complete discretion. As a Z11 coach, you help young people who find it difficult to give their lives direction or simply need some feedback from a sensible, independent outsider who has more life experience. This age group often lacks self-confidence and sufficient belief in their own abilities. This is where you as a coach can stand next to the young person and make a difference. By applying proven coaching techniques, but also by sharing your own experiences with the young people, they can always take the next step under your guidance. Gradually, these young people will start to believe in themselves more and more while you work together to build on their already latent ability to do it on their own. As a coach you are a supporting factor in this. Your activities: • Coaching young people aged 10 to 21 years. How much time does it take to become a coach at Z11? • You have an average of 1 to 2 hours a week in a coaching conversation with the young person you are guiding. • You attend intervision meetings an average of 5 times a year. • Every year the foundation organizes various specialized workshops, seminars and/or training for its coaches to stay up-to-date with the latest developments and to update you on relevant topics. You are supposed to participate proactively in this. Both the intervision and the above-mentioned training usually take place in the evenings. To work as a coach at Z11 Youth Coaching, you must submit a valid and relevant Certificate of Good Conduct and follow a two-day training from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm. This training is generally scheduled on two Saturdays and includes a lunch provided by us. If you successfully complete the training, you will receive a certificate on behalf of the Z11 Youth Coaching Foundation. If you are successful, you will then be part of the great, well-motivated Z11 team and you can be paired with a young person, with careful attention being paid to the best possible match between the young person and the coach. Got excited? Then register - preferably via the 'I want to become a coach' form on our website - with a brief motivation and description of who you are and what you have done so far. You can also attach your CV! We would like to hear from you! Sincerely, #Team Z11-Youth Coaching
