Making contact and listening with real attention can make the difference. For people who feel lonely, have worries, pain or sadness. This is what you will do: As a volunteer at the Listening Line, you offer a listening ear to people with concerns, sadness or problems. People often feel alone. You are there for the other person by listening, asking questions and organizing thoughts. You do this anonymously, by telephone or chat. You don't need any special prior knowledge to have the conversations. Because you do not have the role of counselor or advisor, but you have a conversation from person to person. At the Listening Line location Zaanstreek-Waterland and surrounding areas. volunteers work from all over the Zaanstreek, Waterland, Purmerend, Beverwijk, Heemskerk, Uitgeest and Castricum. Working from home and remote guidance are possible. Our office is located right next to Zaandam station. This is you: -You have empathy. -You're a good listener. -You are interested in people and do not judge. -You have a studious attitude. -You have approximately 20 hours available for volunteer work per month. Where and when: -At the organization itself or at home -On average, you will work 2 shifts of 2 hours each per week, at a time and place that suits you. -The need for conversation is greatest at night. You do a shift twice a month at night of 2 hours per shift. -You will also be present at intervision meetings. In total, you will spend approximately 20 hours per month on volunteer work.
