Pleasant man 40+ wants to do something together

We are looking for a buddy (m) for a man over forty from Duivendrecht. The man has previously been linked to a buddy. He liked that. He can function well in everyday life, but he should not experience too much pressure from the environment. Working is therefore not an option. He is occasionally active as a volunteer and he occasionally sees and speaks to his mother and brother and a friend, who lives near him. Unfortunately, he has no other social environment, while he enjoys fun and entrepreneurship. “Any distraction is welcome,” he says. And that's why he wants a buddy with whom he can do something. To varying degrees he experiences a compulsive disorder, which means that he occasionally has an urge to perform a certain action. For example, he wants to stop for a moment during a walk instead of continuing to walk. If he is left there, the stress of the moment decreases and then he can continue walking as usual. He hopes for a buddy between thirty and sixty years old. He would like to do something together with a buddy. For example, take a walk, cycle a bit, go to a museum, play tennis, badminton or squash, have a nice coffee or something to eat somewhere. He enjoys studying history, especially the Second World War. And he enjoys watching documentaries about these topics on National Geographic. It would be nice if his buddy is also interested in these topics and if his buddy also likes animals, but that is not a requirement. He prefers to meet on Tuesday or Friday afternoon. Are you interested in becoming his buddy? Read below how that works. As a volunteer with the Roads Buddy project, we pair you with a regular participant: your buddy. We connect the participant and the volunteer based on, among other things, common interests. The function of this buddy contact is to break through or prevent social isolation for a participant with a psychological vulnerability by going out together. As a volunteer you provide distraction and a bit of fun. It is important that you are prepared to meet with your buddy once every fortnight for one year (longer is possible). Furthermore, you are prepared to enter into the encounter 'openly', without wanting to change the other person. That sometimes requires adaptability. Working hours: During the day or in the evening, during the week or at the weekend: all possible. If you become each other's buddy, you will meet once every two weeks for a period of one year. When and where you meet each other, you always decide in mutual consultation with your buddy. Intake procedure: Contact person Roads Maatjesproject: Jorise (Mon, Tue, Thu). Please feel free to contact us for an introductory meeting. If you definitively register as a volunteer, an interview will follow with a participant. After this conversation, you can indicate the next day whether you want to become a buddy couple. Yes = start contact. No = new conversation with another buddy.

About Chantal

Hello, My name is Chantal van Mierlo. I work at the Maatjes project. This project is part of Roads and Arkin. We are looking for volunteers who want to help break social isolation for a participant with a psychological vulnerability. Would you like to spend some free time with someone who needs a pleasant distraction through one-on-one contact? As a volunteer you will be paired with a participant for a year. Together you form a buddy couple. You meet on a biweekly basis and determine in mutual consultation what you are going to do. You can think of: drinking coffee together, doing some shopping, playing a board game, walking or cycling, shopping or going to the beach. The connection takes place on the basis of wishes and common interests. Are you interested in becoming a volunteer with us? Please leave a message with your name and telephone number. I would like to get to know you by telephone. Sincerely, Chantal.

We are looking for a buddy for a woman over fifty from Nes aan de Amstel. The woman lives with supervision. Women need more one-on-one contact. It would be nice if someone from outside could come visit her and do something creative with her. For example, painting together, making a flower arrangement or yoga. The woman wants a female companion of around fifty years of age. Someone who does not patronize, but is kind, respectful and reassuring. And who has the patience to move with her. The woman is very variable in contact; one minute you may have a nice conversation with her and the next she may be a bit confused. Her availability will take place in consultation and depends on the schedule of her daytime activities. The woman smokes, not much, she has her regular smoking moments. We are looking for a female buddy for a woman in her 60s from Amstelveen. The woman often feels anxious, which makes it difficult for her to undertake anything independently. She would like to go outside, but often finds it too exciting to go out. She feels stronger with someone. The woman has previously been linked to a buddy. Experience shows that she is not always able to go through with a buddy appointment. A buddy should be able to handle this. The woman wishes for a female companion. Someone who is calm, flexible and socially skilled and who thinks along with her. Her buddy must be able to muster the understanding and patience for the fact that it is not so easy for her to do things just like that. But this buddy contact is mainly about offering some distraction and fun through a one-on-one contact. You may visit the woman at home. Please note that she and her husband smoke indoors. The woman thinks it would be nice (if she succeeds) to take a walk somewhere in her neighborhood. Or to possibly going to the library, the goat farm or a museum together. We are looking for a buddy for a thirty-five year old woman from Kudelstaart. The woman has physical complaints, which makes her wheelchair dependent. She also finds it exciting and difficult to make contact with others. She doesn't really know how to behave, what to say or what to do in a social situation. The woman has had buddies before, and she found that positive. She would like to be paired with a buddy again. During the previous buddy contact, she enjoyed being able to look forward to something and doing something fun with someone. For example, going outside (with her dog). Or to visit a cinema, a farm or a petting zoo. If you would like to become her new buddy, be aware that this woman finds the contact more important than the activity. For her it's about the distraction and the fun. And that she can feel comfortable with her buddy. In addition, it is important that you as a volunteer can accept that she may make different choices than you would as a volunteer, that you do not want to 'change' the other person but can accept her as she is. The woman would like it if her buddy likes animals. A shared interest in animals is also a topic of conversation. The woman uses special transport. During a buddy outing, her buddy will need to push her wheelchair. She can walk a few hundred meters. Activities must be low-budget. She doesn't smoke. Are you interested in becoming her buddy? We are looking for a buddy (m/f) for a man of sixty plus. The man has been living in Hoofddorp for several years. He always worked in the hospitality industry and was therefore a lot of people. Since he has to deal with illness and pain, he has been sitting at home and it is difficult for him to build up sufficient social contacts. He would love it if he was paired up with a buddy who would come to visit or pick him up at home. When he feels physically worse, he likes to eat dinner with his buddy at his house, play a game of rummikub or read something and talk about it. On better days, he would like to get out and about. A bad hip makes it difficult for him to walk. But sometimes making a small detour works. He doesn't care about the age of the buddy. He does find it important that there is a click, there is mutual respect and that there is good conversation. It would also be nice if his buddy, like him, is nice, interested and cared for and that he could laugh with his buddy. He prefers to meet during the day. Are you interested in becoming his buddy? We are looking for a 'shopping buddy' for a woman over fifty from Aalsmeer. The woman is of Pakistani descent and has traveled a lot in her life. Her father's work caused her to live in different countries. The woman has no family. She lives independently and only has contact with a niece who lives nearby and a brother who lives further away. Her parents now live back in Pakistan. She can be cheerful and she likes to have fun. But she feels lonely and therefore she has the tendency to let everything pass her by. She feels she has too many problems that weigh heavily. As a result, she finds it difficult to get involved in the community. She also has problems with her legs. She can walk for half an hour, but then has to sit on a bench every five minutes. It is sometimes a challenge for her to do anything outside the home. The woman has already been linked to a buddy. She likes that. However, it is currently no longer possible for this volunteer to go to the shops together. That's why it would be nice if another volunteer would like to take up this part with this woman. So the woman would like to go shopping in the Aalsmeer center with her (second) buddy. She then wishes to take the bus from her house to Aalsmeer center. And there are a few shops to visit near the Raadhuisplein. She cannot walk far, so walking all the way down Zijdstraat is not an option. During the outing, she thinks it would be nice to have a nice and light-hearted chat. It is important that her mate does not gossip. She wishes that the volunteer and she will have respect for each other. The woman understands Dutch, but does not speak the language fluently. As a buddy, you will have to put some effort into having a conversation with her. Are you interested in becoming her buddy? Read below how that works. As a volunteer with the Roads Buddy project, we pair you with a regular participant: your buddy. We connect the participant and the volunteer based on, among other things, common interests. What are you going to do: As a TOMaatje you help a child/young person (7-18 years) from a newcomer family when education is not going well. Working as TOMaatje: Through your efforts you ensure that children and young people improve their Dutch language and can ask questions about their homework. This is very important for their school career. You can also support the parents and familiarize them with the Dutch school system. Working as TOMaatje is therefore meaningful work with a major social impact. At the same time, you get to know a newcomer family better and become part of a community of about 300 other enthusiastic TOMaatjes. Join! Are you willing and available to guide a child? Who goes on a tram or train trip?

Project · 1 to 2 hours in total
Roads Maatjesproject

We are looking for a buddy for a twenty-eight year old young lady from Amstelveen. She has difficulty blending in in a social environment and keeping a conversation going. She can also be unclear in her speech. She lives with her parents and she attends a day care project four days a week. She has no social contacts outside of that. Since childhood she has been involved with trams and trains as a hobby. It is her wish to take a ride on the tram or train every now and then. The young lady wants one-on-one contact with a peer. She hopes to be paired with a female companion between the ages of eighteen and thirty-five. Someone who wants to travel somewhere with her by tram or possibly by train, walk around with her there for a while and then travel back with her. The destination does not have to be far. It is nice if the volunteer has something to say during the tram or train journey. But some silences here and there are okay. The costs will be reimbursed. The young lady can meet on Thursday afternoon or during the weekend. Are you interested in becoming her buddy? Read below how that works. As a volunteer with the Roads Buddy project, we pair you with a regular participant: your buddy. We connect the participant and the volunteer based on, among other things, common interests. Intake procedure: Contact person Roads Maatjesproject: Jorise (Mon, Wed, Thu). Please feel free to contact us for an introductory meeting. If you definitively register as a volunteer, an interview will follow with a participant. After this conversation, you can indicate the next day whether you want to become a buddy couple. Yes = start contact. No = new conversation with another buddy.
