As a volunteer for the Emergency Response Team, you work in a team and are managed by a team leader. Is this something for you? Become a volunteer for the Emergency Response Team on an on-call basis and support medical professionals in a crisis situation.

What will you do? You:
• perform First Aid actions at BLS level (independently or in a team) and victim monitoring (ABCDE method)
• transfer victim information and do administration (such as victim registration)
• report/refer injuries or conditions for which nurses or other medical professionals must be consulted (in accordance with RTS). RTS is the Revised Trauma Score.
• work in an organised manner together with healthcare professionals (in the T3 care location)
• facilitate a T3 collection and care point, set it up and manage the materials
• can work with the materials in the emergency vehicle (and IFV depot) and the radio walkie-talkie. IFV stands for Institute for Physical Safety.
• ensure a safe and hygienic working environment
• assist and guide (transport) T3 victims to the municipal reception centre (Population Care). T3 is a triage class, triage is the assessment of the urgency of a request for assistance. • offers a listening ear, attention, recognition, support and comfort
As a care provider you are:
• 18 years or older
• active in event care (basic process)
• mobile phone reachable and can meet the response time (within 30 minutes at the specified UGS). UGS stands for starting position, which is the response location. For the Utrecht team this is Utrecht.
• prepared to wear a pager
• flexible, honest, kind, communicative and stress-resistant
• a team player
• physically able to perform all tasks (see box)
It is important that you can listen actively as a care provider. During your work you must set priorities and respond adequately to the needs of victims. You work in a coordinated context, both independently and under the supervision of a team leader. Finally, you can improvise well. Within the specified frameworks you can and dare to make independent decisions about the execution of your tasks.
What do you bring with you?
You have:
• knowledge of the basic principles of the Red Cross and act accordingly
• the certificate (learning path) Basic First Aid Provider (BEHV) and Event First Aid Provider (EEHV), or are willing to obtain it
• a relief-providing attitude and a representative appearance
• a completed employer's declaration
• at least MBO work and thinking level and speak Dutch
• resilience, particularly in relation to the nature and seriousness of the disaster or incident

You then start with the learning path to Basic First Aid Provider, which consists of a number of digital learning paths, obtaining your First Aid certificate Extended First Aid incl. EHAK (First Aid and resuscitation for adults and children) and practical guidance. After that you can progress to the position of Event First Aid Provider. This learning path also consists of a digital part, after which you will follow online lessons via Teams and a practical lesson with assessment (exam) on location. You can then progress to the Emergency Aid Team by again completing a digital part and following online lessons via Teams and practical lessons and an assessment (exam) on location. This is a learning path of 1-2 years, depending on your knowledge and experience.
