With Home Start family support, you can use your experience as a parent to support someone else. Home Start volunteers are there for parents of young children who need a helping hand or have practical questions. “When I first heard about Home Start, I thought it was really hard, as if something had to go wrong. But now I have the support myself, and that is not the case at all! It feels more like a neighbor is visiting, someone who simply has a different view of things. That has helped me a lot. – Melanie, Home Start participant. About volunteering at Home Start At Home Start, you are paired with a parent who needs some support. For a year, you visit his or her family every week. You offer a listening ear, answer practical parenting questions or, for example, do something fun with the family. The goal is that the family can continue without you after a year! About the people you do it for Home Start is there for all parents with children aged 0-14. All parents can register. Shahed (17) would like to complete HAVO. Will you help her with Dutch? Thanks to the help of another homeschooling buddy, Shahed was able to complete her VMBO with good grades. Now she is in 4 Havo and can use some extra support again. She is looking for an online TOMaatje who wants to help her successfully complete high school. Do you want to help someone realize her potential? We are looking for a volunteer for Shahed who: - Want to teach online once a week. - Has a good command of the Dutch language. - Is not afraid of the upper secondary school material to ensure that you can make good agreements. In consultation, you agree on a time during the week when you can provide online support. After that, it's time to have fun contact with each other and, above all, do a lot of homework together. How do we support you? You will receive guidance from TOMaatjes at the start, with tips for lesson content and access to the community with other TOMaatjes in it. Every 1-2 months there is an online intervision with lectures from professionals or you can discuss in groups how you can get more out of the tutoring. What do I need for it? - Be open to another culture. - Before you can start, we will request a Certificate of Good Conduct for you free of charge. Once it has arrived, you can start as soon as possible. - Want to help with everything that is covered in the upper years of HAVO. Being a homeschooling buddy is truly a very rewarding task. It starts with tutoring, but many of our volunteers really build a bond with the family where they work. Shahed's previous TOMaatje wrote this about her: "Until last summer holidays, I (as TOMaatje) guided a Syrian girl for 3 years, during which she transitioned from framework to theoretical, with the end result being a T-diploma with an average above 7. A wonderful result that gives me great satisfaction. left, and she can still fall back on me. My reward was her facial expression and that of her parents when I unexpectedly appeared at the graduation ceremony." We hope to welcome you soon if TOMaatje for Shahed or one of the many other children could use help.

Leendert Vriel Almelo
Leendert Vriel Almelo is looking for volunteers for home care Many people have a great desire to die at home, but sometimes it is difficult for loved ones to continue this care. Volunteers from the Leendert Vriel Foundation offer time, attention and support to the sick person and their loved ones in this final phase of life. There is close cooperation with home care organizations. The volunteers do not perform nursing tasks, but can help with the care that the informal caregivers also provide. The volunteer can take over the care for a while so that the informal caregiver can sleep peacefully or do something during the day, knowing that his/her loved one is not alone. Leendert Vriel Almelo e.o. (working in the municipalities of Almelo, Hellendoorn, Rijssen, Tubbergen, Twenterand and Wierden) is looking for new volunteers, both men and women. They keep watch during the day and/or at night for people who are seriously ill and want to be cared for at home until they die. A volunteer: “it is beautiful work, which gives a lot of satisfaction. As a volunteer you can mean a lot to people who are going through the most difficult period of their lives. Just by “being there”. No specific prior education is required for this volunteer work. Emotional stability, motivation and an open attitude are necessary. In order to be well prepared for this work, in which personal attention is central, new volunteers first follow an introductory course. Are you attracted to this form of care and would you like to register as a volunteer? Then send a message or call telephone number [phone number hidden]. You get a beautiful world in return! We are looking for volunteers who want to be responsible for interviewing and matching host families and 'guests'. Our guests are status holders and now have a residence permit. Our Matchmakers match these families and guests and guide them during the stay. These guests will live in a municipality in Overijssel. When a status holder stays with a Dutch host family, both our guest and our host family learn from each other in an accessible way. The guest gets a unique insight into Dutch culture and gets the chance to master the language and customs. The host family in turn learns a lot about the culture of the guest. Great neighbourliness! Almost all our host families experience this stay as an enrichment in their lives. The best thing is when the match is in the region where the guest is eventually assigned a home, the so-called 'coupled municipality'. In this way, we give status holders a better start in their new environment! What will you do as a Matchmaker? As a Matchmaker, you interview our guests at the AZC or elsewhere and our host families at their homes. You inform them about the procedure of a match. Do you think a guest and host family are a successful match? Then you introduce them to each other and hopefully a match will follow. Takecarebnb provides you with these guests and host families via a database system. As a Matchmaker, you follow the guest and the host family remotely during the match period (three months). As a volunteer, we will support you with advice and assistance from our office in Amsterdam and you will be assigned a personal coordinator as a buddy. As a volunteer, you are a highly valued colleague within Takecarebnb! Do you recognize yourself in these skills? • Intercultural and customer-oriented thinking; • Conducting structured conversations • Being able to ask questions to clarify expectations; • Being able to critically assess situations and act accordingly; • Flexible attitude, careful • Honest and non-judgmental; • Being able to speak and write Dutch well, knowledge of the English language; • Wanting to operate independently and in a team; • Create conversation reports in our database What we offer you • The opportunity to use your talent and/or experience in a meaningful volunteer role; • An inspiring network in your region; • Practical start with a fellow matchmaker who takes you along on conversations; • A permanent coordinator as a point of contact • Several relevant training courses and masterclasses annually by specialists in the field; • Periodic intervision meetings with fellow Matchmakers; • Volunteer compensation; • A place within a close-knit team in an enthusiastic and inspiring organization; • You work from home, visit the host families and are always welcome in our office in Amsterdam; • The opportunity to really make a difference in the lives of both the guests and the host families! Location and hours You live in Overijssel and you can make about 5-8 hours per week to be busy as a Matchmaker. The hours can be divided yourself and depend on the workload and the period. Are you interested or would you like more information first? Would you like to discuss this great role without obligation or speak to a fellow Matchmaker? Send an email.
