Make a difference for victims and relatives Victim Support Netherlands is looking for volunteers in the Alphen aan den Rijn area. As a volunteer you directly contribute to overcoming unpleasant events step by step. With your listening ear and practical advice you can make a difference for people who have just experienced something drastic. Become a first victim contact volunteer Victim Support Netherlands helps victims, surviving relatives, witnesses and other involved parties after a criminal offense, traffic accident, calamity or other major event. They can come to us for emotional support, practical support (such as help with applying for compensation) and support in the criminal process. Every year we help hundreds of thousands of victims and surviving relatives in person or online. Victim Support Netherlands is a national organization with 25 locations. Together we help victims today. This will be your job After a major event, all kinds of emotions arise and victims, surviving relatives, witnesses and other involved parties have to deal with different authorities. You make the first telephone contact with victims on behalf of Victim Support Netherlands. You offer a listening ear and discuss what help is needed. A telephone conversation with you may be sufficient. Refer if necessary. What are you bringing? Your natural interest in your fellow man, which allows you to listen well. Your empathy makes people feel seen and heard. You have a good command of the Dutch language. You have digital skills; you can work with a computer and are willing to learn how to work in a new program. How much time do we ask of you? In order to provide the best support, we require a minimum availability of 6-8 hours per week, during fixed half-days. In your first weeks you will follow a learning program of 8 to 12 hours per week at the Victim Support Academy. This is why you do it You do meaningful work: you make a difference for someone in a vulnerable and difficult period. Of course we will help you do this work well: There is a learning program especially for you as a new employee. You can follow this training course online, in class and in the workplace. You will receive guidance from experienced colleagues. You work together in a close-knit team and can always fall back on your colleagues.
