Hero of Humanity is an information program in which young people are encouraged in an interactive way to reflect on their own behavior during (emergency) situations. There are two simulation videos in which students can indicate on their mobile whether they would help or not. Following the videos, students discuss the choices they make. The simulation videos and subsequent discussions are interspersed with portraits of young Red Cross volunteers who are committed to helping others worldwide. As a counselor you encourage young people to talk to each other. You do this using various dilemmas and portraits from the videos. You get the students to think about their own behavior, willingness to act, ability to act and different perspectives for action in an emergency situation. You can always do something! As a Basic First Aid Provider, you support visitors or participants who become unwell at events. Are you 18 years or older? Would you like to help at De Parade, the Utrecht Marathon or Dance Valley? You choose when and at which event you will take action as a Red Cross aid worker. Of course you will receive first aid training and learn everything about ether discipline. Check the vacancy and become a Basic First Aider at events. You go to work at festivals, sports competitions or fairs (with a first aid certificate in your pocket). As a Basic First Aid Provider, you support visitors or participants who become unwell at events. From sticking plasters and treating abrasions to providing help with overheating. As Head of Population Care, you are responsible for maintaining and motivated a certified team of emergency responders within the Gooi and Utrecht district in the preparation for calamities and crises and for being a point of contact. The position of Head of Population Care will become available for three different themes. The Gooi & Utrecht District is immediately looking for a number of: Heads of Population Care (voluntary) On-call basis, flexible number of hours per week (in consultation) What are you going to do? The Population Care Team supports the municipality involved in population care tasks in crisis situations. This includes the evacuation and guidance of residents who have to leave their home in a hurry. But also setting up (night) shelters, providing (psychosocial) support and offering a listening ear are core tasks of a population care volunteer. In the event of a disaster or emergency, the Population Care Team offers both very practical, physical help as well as that listening ear and arm around the shoulder. An attempt is always made to give those affected as much control as possible over their own situation by offering perspectives for action to increase self-reliance. In preparation for calamities and crises, the Head of Population Care is responsible for maintaining and motivating a certified team of emergency responders within the district and acting as a point of contact. There is room for a number of new Heads of Population Care for various themes. So there are several places available. The work can be divided by mutual agreement. If you are interested in one or more themes, we would like to hear which one you prefer. 1. Education, Training, Practice (RTD) • Contributes to organizing, preparing, carrying out and evaluating exercises; • Identifies bottlenecks in task performance after a deployment or exercise and contributes to solutions; • Contributes to the implementation of an annual plan, possibly in collaboration with other emergency services, municipalities and the safety region. 2. Volunteer management • Shares joys and sorrows, keeps in touch with the Population Care volunteers and is ready for all their questions; • Ensures the registration and deregistration of volunteers, conducts selection interviews and arranges thank you gifts upon departure; • Motivates and informs the volunteers with regard to the annual planning. 3. Logistics • Ensures that the material is kept in order and indicates when something needs to be added; • Provides Population Care volunteers with the correct clothing; • Ensures optimal support for the Population Care Team with regard to the deployment and relieving of care providers. All Heads of Population Care work at district level and meet periodically in consultation with the Emergency Services Coordinator. What are you bringing? Contact us every morning to hear if everything is going well: that is what the Contact Circle is for. As a volunteer, you start the calling circle and call the first participant on the list. Each participant calls the next person on the list. At the end of the list, the calling circle closes with a phone call to you. The Contact Circle consists of a group of people who have contact with each other every morning: is everything going well? The telephone conversation ensures that it is noticed if something is wrong with a participant. Is a participant not recording? The Red Cross volunteer calls a contact person to take a look. Interested in volunteering from home? Then the Contact Circle might be something for you! We are looking for a Contact Circle volunteer for approximately 7 hours per month for various locations. As a volunteer at Home-Start, you help parents with their daily parenting questions. You probably recognize the situation of many mothers and fathers: broken nights, not a moment of rest, arguments about homework or screen time, and so on. Parents enjoy contact with others who have experience in raising children. If there are no family members, friends or acquaintances nearby, you can be that important buddy for parents and their children. Your parenting experience as support for parents: • You provide support to the family at home. • From your own experience with raising children; because you are a mother or father yourself, or through your work. • You offer time, attention and a listening ear. • You think along with parents and look for solutions together. • You stand next to the family. In mutual trust. The contact between you and it family is equal and accessible (some parents later become volunteers). • Parents themselves indicate what they want support for. • By emphasizing what is going well, the parents' self-confidence grows. • You visit the family every week. After a few months to a maximum of a year and a half of support, the parents continue on their own. This makes your volunteer work for families interesting, meaningful and very useful. You share your own experience with parenting. COSA is a meaningful volunteer task. You support a sex offender in his re-socialization in society. This way you contribute to a safer society! As a volunteer at COSA, you, together with other volunteers, form a social network around a sex offender with the aim of breaking through isolation and working towards social inclusion. Volunteers support the person in finding their way in society. This can be done by offering a listening ear, offering practical help and undertaking activities. Drink a cup of coffee somewhere, take a walk and also provide support in developing your own network/hobbies and other activities. In addition, the volunteers are an extra pair of eyes and ears to help the sex offender stay on the right path. A COSA process takes an average of 1.5-2 years and requires a time investment of 2 hours per week. Social isolation When a sex offender returns to society after serving a sentence, unrest often arises. Social isolation, social exclusion and emotional loneliness lurk. COSA is committed, together with volunteers and professionals, to breaking this isolation. They support the sex offender in his reintegration into society. This has proven to be effective in reducing the risk of recidivism. Also become a COSA volunteer COSA is a beautiful, meaningful volunteer task. Volunteers can count on a thorough two-day training in advance. The support and guidance provided by the circle coordinator during the COSA process is also well organised. No specific prior education or background is necessary.
