Coach Get-a-Grip
Young people from the age of 16 are often financially independent for the first time. Of all young people between the ages of 18 and 25, 42% have at least debts, a loan or payment arrears. For example, they have student debt, outstanding medical bills, telephone subscriptions, gym and online purchases. Young people are often overdrawn at the bank or have borrowed money from friends or family.
As a coach at Humanitas Get a Grip, you help them regain vision of a debt-free future. You are still fairly young yourself and know well what is going on in the lives of young people. Or you are a bit older and get along well with young people. Of course you also find it fun and meaningful to help these young people. You make them aware of their income and expenses. You point out allowances and other regulations to them. You guide them for a period of a few months to a maximum of a year. Until they can continue independently. In the beginning it might be 1-3 hours per week, then it will decrease.
No process with a young person is the same, but they all consist of the following steps:
1. Getting to know each other and building trust
2. Identify the causes of the current situation
3. Getting the administration in order
4. Provide insight into income and expenditure
5. Explore options for benefits and money savings
6. Maintaining the administration
7. Taking distance, so that the young person becomes increasingly independent.
In the (online) training you learn how to approach this, so you do not need to have a lot of experience in that area. If you think you can learn it, that's fine too.
