Emergency response team member Gooi & Vechtstreek Het Nederlandse Rode Kruis District Gooi & Utrecht What do you do in the event of an accident or disaster? Do you stay calm and keep a cool head? Become a volunteer with the Emergency Response Team and support ambulance personnel and medical professionals in a crisis situation. As a volunteer in the Emergency Response Team, you work in a team and are managed by a team leader. Something for you? Come to the Gooi en Vechtstreek location and become an Emergency Response team member on an on-call basis.
Please note: to respond to this vacancy you must already be training as an Event First Aider at the Red Cross or be willing to follow the training route to become an Event First Aider with us.

What are you going to do?
You:
• performs First Aid actions at BLS (Basic Life Support) level (independently or in a team) and victim monitoring (ABCDE method)
• transfers victim information and does the administration (such as victim registration)
• identifies/refers injuries or conditions for which nurses or other medical professionals should be consulted (in accordance with RTS). RTS is Revised Trauma Score.
• works together with healthcare professionals in an organized context (in the T3 care location)
• facilitates a T3 collection and care point, sets it up and manages the materials
• can work with the materials in the emergency vehicle (and IFV depot) and the radio walkie-talkie. IFV stands for Institute of Physical Safety.
• ensures a safe and hygienic working environment
• assists and accompanies (transport) T3 victims to the municipal reception center (Population Care). T3 is a triage class, triage is the assessment of the urgency of a request for assistance.
• offers a listening ear, attention, recognition, support and comfort.
As a care provider you are:
• 18 years or older
• active in event assistance (basic process)
• Mobile accessible and can meet the arrival time (within 30 minutes on indicated UGS). UGS stands for starting position, which is the attendance location. For Gooi and Vechtstreek this is Bussum.
• be prepared to carry a pager
• flexible, honest, kind, communicative and stress-resistant
• a team player
• physically able to perform all tasks (see box)
It is important that you, as a care provider, can listen actively. During your work you must prioritize and respond appropriately to the needs of victims. You work in a coordinated context, both independently and under the direction of a team leader. Finally, you can improvise well. Within the stated frameworks, you can and dare to make independent decisions about the performance of your tasks.
What are you bringing?
You have:
• knowledge of the basic principles of the Red Cross and act accordingly
• the certificate (learning route) Basic First Aider (BEHV) and Events First Aider (EEHV), or are willing to obtain these
• a supportive institution and a representative appearance
• a completed employer's statement
• minimum MBO working and thinking level and speaks Dutch
• resilience, especially in relation to the nature and severity of the disaster or incident

We would then like to discuss this with you and see together whether you can progress to the Emergency Response Team after completing the learning routes below. You then start with the learning route to become a Basic First Aid Provider, which consists of a number of digital learning routes, obtaining your first aid certificate Extensive first aid incl. EHAK (first aid and resuscitation for adults and children) and practical guidance. You can then progress to the position of Events First Responder. This learning route also consists of a digital part, after which you take online lessons via Teams and a practical lesson with assessment (exam) on location. You can then progress to the Emergency Response Team by completing a digital section again and taking online lessons via Teams and practical lessons and an assessment (exam) on location. This is a 1-2 year learning process, depending on your knowledge and experience. We hope to meet you soon!
