Our day care farm is aimed at people with memory problems such as dementia. They come from about 10-16 hr to experience all kinds of things together. We are looking for drivers who pick up people at home and possibly have a nice cup of coffee with them. Or pick up people at the end of the afternoon and bring them home again.
Neighborhood Families Alkmaar is looking for a family or couple for several children who want to be there for them as a kind of grandfather/grandmother, uncle/aunt or good neighbor. Under the motto “We raise children together”, Neighborhood Families links families who could use some support to a family in the neighborhood. This way, children get some extra love and attention and the parents are relieved of the burden. These families unfortunately lack this support in their own environment and have therefore registered with us. Does this seem fun to you and are you available for part of the day (every other week)? This light support can make a big difference for our asking families! The help is mundane and friendly. The requesting and supporting family make agreements about support under the guidance of the Neighborhood Families coordinator. For example, it could be a weekly play date, an occasional weekend stay or doing something fun together. That is tailor-made every time. Home-Start is a Humanitas project aimed at families who need temporary support. Our volunteers offer families support with education, practical help and a listening ear. The Home-Start volunteers visit families with children aged 0-18 on a weekly basis (maximum one year). The families themselves indicate where they can use support. Do you want to support that other parent as a parent? We are looking for volunteers who just want to give that extra support to families in Bergen and the Egmonden. Do you have parenting experience, are you a good listener, and are you willing to support a family for a few hours a week? Then we have a suitable match for you! Become a language tutor at SamenSpraak, part of Gilde Alkmaar, and help non-native speakers improve their speaking skills. As a language tutor, a coordinator pairs you with a non-native speaker and together you meet every week for 1-2 hours to talk about all kinds of things. Sometimes you help with a lesson from school. Without a good command of the Dutch language you cannot become part of the world around you. You cannot make contact with people around you and you can become lonely. A good command of the Dutch language is also necessary to be able to study here and to be able to function well in a job in the future. We request availability for approximately one year. Rehabilitation Alkmaar is housed in Oudorp with 50 rehabilitation places. In Heerhugowaard nursing home Zuyder Waert live about 80 residents with a form of dementia. There are also small-scale residential forms in the neighborhood for residents with a psychiatric background, a form of dementia or somatic care needs.
