Walking, good for your health!

You can walk anytime and anywhere, especially in Westland! Nice and easy and incredibly healthy, because walking not only keeps your body fit, you also ensure that your upstairs room relaxes and that stress disappears. Sander [63] has experienced that when you walk you literally and figuratively set yourself in motion. It helps him gain new insights and put things into perspective where necessary. He has experienced that he benefits from regularly exercising outdoors. He gets a lot of satisfaction and peace from working in his vegetable garden, but during the winter months it comes to a standstill. Walking, on the other hand, is not stopped by the weather or lack of light. It may sound very logical that it is more pleasant to examine everyday life together, but find someone who can listen from a caring distance. Are you someone who enjoys being a sounding board and can focus on the positive sides of life, and also wants to keep his/her or their own brain and body fit? Then you might be the right walking buddy for Sander! Inquire about the options with the VTV Thuismaatjes consultant. WHEN Times and frequency in consultation. WHAT DO YOU GET IN RETURN? • Lots of fun, new contacts and gratitude. • An introductory course, training and guidance from VTV. • Travel and expense allowance. • Third-party liability and accident insurance at the time of volunteer work. NB We request a Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) for all volunteers. The costs will be reimbursed by VTV. Maarten is a curious, gentle 11-year-old boy who likes to play outside. He attends special primary education. Unfortunately, he misses the connection with his peers in the neighborhood, because his brain works differently and a bit slower. But if you give him time to think and have the patience to explain something to him again or repeat a question, you can have fun afternoons together. He can tell you everything about highways and likes to look things up on "Google Maps". Donald Duck is his favorite comic to read! He also enjoys cycling or walking together at the beach or forest. Of course he can help you find the best route! When it's time to actually sit inside again, he also enjoys preparing something tasty together in the kitchen. Crafting, on the other hand, is not really his thing. His brother has friends to play with and it would be fantastic if someone came by especially for him on Wednesday afternoon [from 1 p.m.] or on Thursday/Friday afternoon [after 3 p.m.] and asked: "Maarten are you coming to play outside?" Will you visit Maarten? Once a week or once every two weeks? Do you have time on Wednesday afternoon or perhaps on Thursday or Friday afternoon? Please respond and let us know. Working together doesn't have to be difficult and you can have a nice chat while enjoying a cup of coffee, walk together with a dog or enjoy a drink on a terrace. Physical activity is not only good for the body, but also for the mind. If the Buddy has a car (this is not a requirement), they can go out together to, for example, the forest or a garden center. The Buddies receive a short online training about dementia and how to deal with it. The coordinator is always ready to guide the buddies during their deployment. What do we ask of you? You like dealing with people You are interested You have patience You are good at setting boundaries How do we get started? After an intake with the coordinator and following an online training, you will be linked to a participant. This will be followed by an introductory meeting with the person who will become your buddy. After this conversation, you both indicate whether there is enough click to continue seeing each other. You will meet a maximum of once a week or once every two weeks and decide together what you will do. We do not expect you to have any expertise or knowledge in the field of any disability or psychological problems the participant may have. Platform Gehandicapten Westland

The Platform for the Disabled Westland (PGW) is looking for volunteers for our school project: Handicap? Different but very ordinary! We do this project during the school year, with (almost) all groups 8 at primary schools in Westland. Students show and experience that there are many disabilities. We do this through a 'game' with questions and assignments. We bring many tools with us for the assignments. This way, students can experience what it is like to have a physical disability, but also that aids can help them participate independently in society. We expect mobile volunteers to help prepare the project. Then help the students complete the assignments and answer the questions. Collecting and cleaning up the (auxiliary) resources is of course also part of this. After the coffee/tea break, the project continues with a circle discussion. How did the students experience the project? Are there any questions for the volunteers or about the assignments and questions? We expect volunteers who have a physical disability to help the students with the questions and assignments. During the group discussion you briefly talk about your physical disability and how and when you acquired 'your disability'. Then the students can ask questions. Are you the active volunteer (with or without) physical disability that we are looking for? Do you enjoy 'working' in a small team? Knowing more? Please contact us at [email address hidden] or visit [website hidden] for more information about the PGW.

Looking for a listening ear! (Reinier de Graaf)

Monthly · 6 to 12 hours
Carma - centrum voor leven met en na kanker

A listening ear is the most important thing we can offer people who are dealing with cancer. We do this in our centers Carma (Naaldwijk) and Debora (Delft) and also in the Reinier de Graaf Gasthuis. We are present in the oncology department and outpatient clinic two days a week to provide psychosocial support to patients. They can tell their story to us in an accessible way. This can be about their illness but also about other things in life. Can you listen well without filling in the blanks yourself? Are you involved and can you put the needs of others first? Who knows, you might be the "Listening Ear" we are looking for. This volunteer work offers you the opportunity to assist people in a difficult period of their lives and to develop yourself personally. If this appeals to you, we would be happy to talk to you. Particularities All our volunteers follow a training course from our trade association IPSO in which you receive additional information about oncology, learn conversation skills and think about the consequences of a serious illness. There is additional training for in the hospital. You first start in the center, after training and enough experience you start working in the hospital. After each shift there is a short evaluation of the morning/afternoon. Together with the various volunteer meetings, we ensure that you can do this work in a pleasant way and that we monitor the quality together. Working hours We ask for availability of 2 or 3 half days per month in the hospital and 1 half day per month at Carma. This way you can tell from your own experience what Carma offers. About Carma Carma offers support in living with and after cancer. We are there for adults, children and teenagers who have (had) cancer, their loved ones and surviving relatives. They can come to us for a listening ear, practical information, conversation with the support consultant and contact with fellow sufferers, but also for relaxation and exercise. The guest decides what he does and what he wants to talk about. A place where you are always warmly welcomed. Are you interested in this special vacancy? Call us on tel [phone number hidden] or email [email address hidden] and we will be happy to speak to you!

Vitis Welzijn

You can make someone smile by going to someone for a chat, having a drink together and/or by walking with someone. An indoor activity or going out together is also possible, anything is possible. Weekly or every other week. This is also nice for the loved one who is normally ready to help someone with memory complaints. That gives them some space, which is often sorely needed. So a double smile and triple if you count yourself :-) No experience? No problem! You will receive information and be in contact with a coordinator. We offer:  Great experiences, also for a CV  Appreciation and reward in the form of gifts  Meetings with other volunteers  Expenses and insurance And above all, a good feeling! Would you like to know more or become a volunteer buddy? I would like to hear from you via message or telephone. Regards, Krista Vitis Welzijn is committed to a vital society in the Westland region. We support vulnerable citizens, encourage people to participate, meet and care about each other.
