The Red Cross helps to find missing family members and to restore contact. We do this together with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and all national Red Cross and Red Crescent societies. With the help of this network, we can start a search in many places around the world. Do you want to contribute to finding and connecting family? Then this position at Restoring Family Links (RFL) is something for you! What will you do? As an RFL volunteer, you receive the people seeking help at a Red Cross office, conduct conversations (with or without an interpreter) and fill in a digital (tracing) form together. With Goed Voorbereid activities, the Red Cross focuses on preparing for emergency situations and accidents in and around the home. During emergency situations, people are initially dependent on themselves and others in the immediate vicinity before professional help arrives. In every neighborhood there is someone who has little contact with the environment. Such a person is vulnerable if something goes wrong. One of the Red Cross activities in the Brabant-Noord district is the Contact Circle. A Contact Circle consists of a group of participants who call around every morning to ask if everything is okay. This contact has an alarm function and ensures that it is noticed quickly if something is wrong with a participant. If a participant does not answer, action is taken. What are you going to do? As a volunteer, you start the circle by calling the first participant at an agreed time in the morning. The first participant calls the second and so on. The last participant calls you to close the circle. In the event of problems and/or when a participant cannot be reached, you ensure that the circle continues and call the coordinator to take action. The Contact Circle is intended for a short check. A round of calls lasts a maximum of 30 minutes. After this half hour, participants can always call each other to talk longer. Such a person is vulnerable when something is wrong. In an emergency, someone may need help, but there is no one to rely on. With the Red Cross Contact Circle, people do not go unnoticed. A Contact Circle is a group of people who form a circle together by having contact with each other every day to ask if everything is going well. The purpose of the circle is that a participant never goes unnoticed for more than 24 hours. In addition, the circle also functions as an information channel in times of emergency. Contacts are often made by telephone, but other means of communication can also be used. The Red Cross organizes this Contact Circle locally. Are you passionate about first aid? And do you want to teach others how to help in emergency situations? Then a position as a Red Cross instructor is really something for you! In the district of North and Central Limburg it is possible to teach volunteers at various locations: Horst aan de Maas, Maasduinen, Roermond, Venlo, Venray and Weert. The first aid lessons take place on alternating days. We are looking for enthusiastic first aid instructors (both voluntary and self-employed) who would like to transfer their knowledge of first aid to others.
