Hostess, host,

Will you be our new colleague volunteer? EigenWeijzer, the start-up center for living with and after cancer in Bladel, is looking for volunteers for the position of hostess or host. Since mid-October we have been open on Monday and Friday afternoons, but in the near future we want to open more drop-in hours during the day or in the evening. Do you want to mean something to our center and our guests? Then we would like to get in touch with you to discuss the possibilities. What will you do? As a hostess or host, you receive our guests. You provide a warm welcome. You offer a listening ear during a cup of coffee or tea and talk together. You look at what a guest needs. For example, is there a need for a personal conversation, information or is someone looking for relaxation? You look at how you can help someone and tell them about the possibilities of our center. You also answer the phone, help with activities and with (light) household tasks. Who are you? You have an open attitude, empathy and good communication skills. You are a good listener and are involved. You make guests feel that they are not alone. You are independent, can work well together and want to develop yourself. You are available for at least one half day per week. It is not necessary to know from your own experience what it means to be confronted with cancer. What do you get out of the job? You work in a nice team (always with a different host or hostess) and enjoy the many social contacts. There are many pleasant, but sometimes also difficult moments. Your attention, commitment and support are worth gold. You will receive IPSO basic training and additional training, so that you can get started expertly and with confidence. Support is also provided by the coordinator and you have contact with fellow volunteers.
