The Dutch Red Cross is there for people in need, both around the corner and far away. We help from our hearts and with our hands. We also ensure that people can help themselves and others. So that in times of need no one is alone. The Red Cross sees it as its responsibility to help children and young people take their place in society and the world. For this purpose, the Red Cross has developed various guest lessons for secondary and vocational schools. In Humanity Game, young people make difficult decisions that aid workers also have to deal with in their work. Which relief supplies would they use during a serious disaster? Do you first provide medical assistance or clean drinking water? In the Humanity Game, students experience that providing emergency aid is not easy. The Red Cross District Gooi & Utrecht is looking for: Guest lecturer/Game leader Humanity Game (volunteer) For +/- 10 times a year What will you do? You act as game leader, together with a fellow volunteer, and play this educational game together with the students and encourage them to think carefully and make the right choices. The class is divided into three 'emergency aid teams'. As a team, they must determine which aid is most urgent in four different disasters. They then use the necessary resources from their basic stock and finally get to see a video with the correct solution and the explanation. You let the students think carefully about the consequences of natural disasters and violent conflicts and encourage them to think in terms of solutions. We prefer that guest lecturers Humanity Game also give the guest lesson Hero of Humanity. This is an interactive lesson in which we look at how helpful the students are.
