As a visiting volunteer (buddy) for respiratory clients, you provide personal attention. You do this by first offering a listening ear and possibly doing small activities such as playing a game, reading, painting and walking. Clients enjoy going outside. Volunteers who guide these clients while walking first take part in mandatory training. Are you that volunteer who can create a pleasant atmosphere, has good communication skills and can work well together? We are looking for volunteers for our living rooms in Peniel to help with meals, serve coffee/tea and pay attention to our clients in the form of a chat or a game. Are you a real early bird who likes to start frying an egg or a delicious French toast at around 8 a.m. as a "pampering breakfast" for which clients like to get out of bed: you are very welcome! The work is done during the week and/or on weekends, in the morning from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, in the afternoon by arrangement and in the early evening from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. On Tuesday mornings we move to music with clients from the Pniël nursing home. We do this sitting from a chair or wheelchair and you inspire others by taking the lead yourself and letting people follow you to the swell of the music. We know how well music can touch people and take you along in a positive way. Arms, hands and legs are always discussed and a game element will also be included. In this way we ensure a nice and varied programme. You pick up clients from various departments, you take them to the recreation room and you participate during the activity! After the activity you serve a juice or a cup of coffee, because we deserve it... 😉 Then you take the participants back to the department. You will end up in a nice team in which you work together with other volunteers; Various activities are organized for and by volunteers. In the Pniël rehabilitation/nursing home there are various departments for people with dementia and people with physical conditions. In these departments, volunteers assist with meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner). Volunteers for the morning, afternoon and evening are more than welcome! The work includes setting tables, guiding clients from their rooms to the living room, supporting them during meals, clearing tables and smoothing everything out again. The days and times are in consultation and we would be happy to discuss them with you during an introductory appointment. Respond if you are interested in this! Every Friday afternoon there is a Christian celebration in Peniel. During this celebration, led by the pastor, prayers, singing and a short reflection are held. Afterwards we will have a cup of coffee. Clients from all departments really enjoy going here. As a volunteer, you guide the clients to the meeting room, you are present with them during the celebration and afterwards you serve a cup of coffee and take the clients back to the department. At the Rozenburg dementia department in Pniël, we ensure that the residents get moving every Friday morning. We do this in the form of sports and games and we use balls, a bowling game, a shuffleboard, balloons and much more. Would you like to help sit in a circle with the residents and encourage and enthuse them to participate? You do this together with the housing supervisor of the department. This would be great if it could be done in an afternoon: preferably on a Monday, Thursday, or Friday. She likes books about cities and nature. She also enjoys reading from the Bible. Do an errand with a resident, pick up a fish or do something else fun... A resident of our respiratory department would like to occasionally go out with a volunteer to run errands, get some fish, visit a museum or something similar. He needs the guidance of a volunteer because he is in a wheelchair when he goes outside. Do you like to go out and do this together with someone who really enjoys it? Then this might be something for you! Are you calling quickly for a first appointment?
How nice it is to feel the wind in your hair and be sporty outside by cycling! Many elderly people can no longer cycle independently, but would love to go out again and get some fresh air in the Peniel area. We have a nice duo bicycle at our disposal and fortunately it is used regularly. But there are still more residents who also want to cycle and that is why we would like to get in touch with volunteers who love cycling and want to do this together with someone. The bicycle has electric assistance, so it is not necessary to pedal heavily. With all the cycle paths we have near the Oudedijk, you will be in the wonderful Kralingse Bos in no time. If you have no experience with the Duo bike, no problem! We will provide you with an instruction workshop, so that you can cycle safely with the resident. You become a buddy for a gentleman who can often be found at his allotment in the summer months. There is a lot of overdue maintenance to both his garden and house, but he is working there full of good courage to get it back in order. Physically quite hard work and help with that is welcome now and then. But it can just as well happen that he decides not to go to the garden and then he likes it when you come by for a nice chat. The same applies in the autumn/winter months. But it can also happen that there is no real work done in the garden. If you can see through the chaos, can move along with what this gentleman finds important and occasionally want to roll up your sleeves, we would like to hear from you. Nico Adriaans Foundation (NAS) offers help to vulnerable (often addicted) homeless Rotterdammers. We do our best to give them a home, or help them on their way to an independent home. We offer a daily activity or a temporary bridge if they need it. The counter is the first point of contact and calling card of our organization. Who are you and what should you do? Our desk employee answers the phone, listens to the question and forwards it to the employee who has the answer. In addition, she is friendly and patient with visitors who report to the counter, even though the environment is sometimes a bit hectic and chaotic. When the mail has arrived, you sort it into the mailboxes and hand it back to the recipient when they report to the counter. You are good with Word and Outlook and if you don't know something, you don't mind asking. Sometimes our visitors are a bit stressed. Of course you understand that and you therefore respond to their needs and not to their behavior. You enjoy working independently after a thorough training period and you are well aware that with this work you make an important contribution to the well-being of our vulnerable target group. We are currently busy with renovations. As a result, things can all get a bit messy. But once we are ready, it would be nice if you could man our desk two half-days a week (after a training period and in consultation). The Lyme Association telephone line is a helpline for Lyme patients, their environment, care providers and people who have questions about Lyme disease and tick bites. Living with Lyme disease is complicated and always presents you with new challenges. Then it is nice to be able to ask your questions to an expert, or simply to tell your story to someone who understands what it is like to live with (someone with) Lyme disease. People who call the Lyme Association information line often have a specific question about Lyme disease or about the care of their loved one, but also to let off steam, express concerns or be able to talk freely.
