Helping Makes You Happy
Volunteer Day December 7th
Slightly less than half of Dutch people aged 15 and older committed themselves to volunteering at least once in 2015, according to Statistics Netherlands . This extensive form of aid deserves attention. December 7 is Volunteer Day. Then municipalities and organizations all over the country organize 'thank you' moments and put volunteers in the spotlight.
Would like to help someone else
The fact that there are so many volunteers in the Netherlands indicates that people like to help others. The feeling it gives you when you can help someone else out is priceless. You feel useful and really connect with your environment. The slogan 'Helpen Makes You Happy' is well known by now, but we want to emphasize once again how true this is. Happiness is in the simple everyday things you go through together. So actually it is: 'Helping Makes Each Other Happy'.
Say 'Thank you' in an original way!
Do you have a helping hero who is always there for you? Would you really like to say to him or her: 'I think that's really great that you're doing this for me.'? Then place a name tag under our posts on Facebook. Then you also have a chance to win a bunch of 'Thank you' flowers. We bring it to your helper on your behalf, with a personal message.
Help for Ivo and Eline
Help for Ivo and Eline I live in Rotterdam with my son Ivo. He is 35 years old and has a disability. I only take care of him and I myself had a tumor in the face, which makes me tired faster. Yes, that's heavy. But you have to stay optimistic, hope is alive! At first I came upon NLvoorelkaar by accident. I used to walk every week with a blind lady and wanted to do something again. But then Ivo stopped with the shelter and came to live at home again and I was the one who asked for help! Wilgo was busy all afternoon! He was incredibly fanatical. I have asked for and received help for all sorts of things. Gerrie came by to clear the garden of weeds and to cut the hedge. Wilgo made a screen completely custom for us. He was there all afternoon! He was incredibly fanatical. And my gas stove was crooked. Yes, of course that doesn't cook very well. I'm very pragmatic so I thought, well, let's put a few tiles under it. When the volunteer comes by, it turns out that there are just feet under it that you can adjust! haha. He did that and now I can cook again. All help is very welcome. This is how Wilco comes back for the garden one more time. Really very nice. Could you use some help, just like Eline? Post a request for help or sign up .
