NLvoorelkaar and everyone who takes action through our platforms contributes to this SDG when they help others living below the poverty line in the Netherlands. In the Netherlands , 6.2% of the population belonged to a household that lives below this limit . They rely on volunteering activities at schools (tutors, language lessons, etc.), leisure (sports, scouting) and basic necessities such as food (food bank, meal projects). On our platforms you will find these types of volunteer work under the categories 'Language & Reading', 'Sports', 'Culture', 'Activity guidance', 'Meals & cooking' and 'Creative and music'. We made matches on more than 35,000 requests for help that fall under this SDG.

The 'Meals & Cooking' category on our platforms contribute directly to the food supply of everyone in the Netherlands. From organizations such as the Food Bank to residents who cook something extra for their neighbourhood. In addition, there are also donation activities for food supplies outside the Netherlands. We realized matches on more than 3,000 requests for help that fall under this SDG.

Helping makes you happy is our motto for a reason - voluntary commitment helps both those who need help and those who help. Our research shows that both benefit from increased well-being and well-being. Up to and including 2020, we made more than 300,000 matches between people via the NLvoorelkaar platforms, all of which contribute to this SDG.

The categories 'Homework guidance' and 'Language and reading' on our platforms contribute to the SDG 'Good education'. In total, more than 8,000 matches have been made that contribute to this SDG.

While not a specific category on our platforms, several diversity projects use NLvoorelkaar to find volunteers. Such as BO Diversity, which strives to embrace love, identity and diversity. So far we have made about 250 matches on this SDG.

We love the world and we want to keep it that way. That only works together and with innovation, so at NLvoorelkaar you can of course also work as a volunteer in various sustainable energy projects. From board member at a local energy cooperative to sustainable energy foundation. And from fundraising to communication volunteer. So far we have made about 500 matches on this SDG.

On the participation ladder to a paid job, the step to unpaid work, ie voluntary work, is a very important one. We therefore work together with our local partners and the UWV to enable people to make the transition to paid employment in a sustainable manner. It is estimated that we match about 7,000 people per year who fall under this SDG.

As NLvoorelkaar we try to innovate the way you can contribute to the world. Online, super accessible, accessible, inspiring and activating. Our digital infrastructures are designed for sustainable activation: volunteering should be so much fun that you immediately want to do it again. And it works well: we made more than 350,000 matches & counting.

We bring people together who normally don't meet. This creates understanding and new connections and thus opportunities for everyone. In total, we connected more than 200,000 people.

52% of the Netherlands volunteers . The voluntary network is therefore the glue of society. It brings people into contact with each other who otherwise would not meet, ensures social cohesion, lasting relationships and, of course, provides help that is sought.

NLvoorelkaar works together with more than 11,000 social organizations and charities, including the North Sea Foundation, the Plastic Soup Foundation, Plastic Surfer and Beach Cleanup. We set up challenges for them and recruit volunteers to contribute to their mission to protect the seas.

Together you are stronger. That is why NLvoorelkaar collaborates with more than 11,000 civil society organizations and charities on our platforms. Nationally/regional we work together with more than 60 government agencies and companies. With one goal: to be there for each other and the world.

In 2000, the countries of the United Nations (UN) agreed development goals for the whole world for the first time. Those were the eight Millennium Development Goals, which ran until 2015. The report of those 'MDGs' was mainly positive. For example, the goal of halving the number of people living in extreme poverty has been achieved. Other goals, such as reducing maternal and infant mortality, were not as successful.

During RIO+20, the UN summit for sustainable development in 2012, 'Sustainable Development Goals', the successors to the Millennium Development Goals, were discussed for the first time. At the same time, administrators, citizens and entrepreneurs in the Netherlands also contributed ideas during the Rio aan de Maas meeting.

The SDGs concern all countries in the world. Of course, the needs in the Netherlands are different than in some other countries, but here too there is still a lot of work to be done. Just think of the climate crisis, declining biodiversity and gender inequality.

Moreover, our actions here also have consequences beyond the borders. Clothes that you buy here often come from countries such as Bangladesh or Ethiopia. Or think of the exhaust gases that our cars produce. These contribute to global warming and lead to drought or more precipitation in other countries. Through your choices and actions, you can therefore contribute to achieving the SDGs, here and abroad.

Every year, Statistics Netherlands (CBS) measures how the Netherlands is performing on the seventeen goals. That produces a mixed report. For example, the Netherlands is lagging behind on climate and energy targets and income equality between men and women. We do score high in the economic field, the rule of law and institutions, and in some areas of education and health. Various organizations are calling on the government to do more and to use the SDGs as a basis for policy.
